The Department of Thoracic Surgery specializes in treating diseases of the chest organs—including the lungs, esophagus, and heart—as well as performing vascular surgery for aortic diseases, peripheral vascular conditions, and varicose veins.
As the core of the Thoracic Cancer Center at DIRAMS, we provide specialized surgery and comprehensive care for all thoracic malignancies, including lung cancer, mediastinal tumors, esophageal cancer, cancer of the gastric cardia, and chest wall tumors. Through close multidisciplinary collaboration with Pulmonology, Hematology-Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Radiology, and Pathology, we ensure rapid, accurate diagnosis and deliver optimal, personalized treatment for every patient.
We actively advance cancer research and treatment development through strong academic exchange and cooperation with the Department of Thoracic Surgery at the Korea Cancer Center Hospital (KCCH) and the Samsung Medical Center Cancer Center. In addition to cancer care, we also specialize in surgeries for benign conditions such as primary and refractory secondary pneumothorax.
