The Department of Radiology & Radiologic Science is a central diagnostic field in medicine that visualizes internal structures and functions to diagnose diseases and guide treatment. By safely and precisely examining the unseen interior of the human body, we enable early detection and accurate diagnosis. We perform general radiography to evaluate diseases across the head, neck, chest, abdomen, spine, and extremities; Computed Tomography (CT) for high-resolution 3D imaging; and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) for precise observation using magnetic fields. We also conduct Ultrasound examinations to check for abnormalities in abdominal and soft-tissue organs—such as the liver, gallbladder, kidneys, thyroid, and breast—in real-time, as well as Digital Mammography to precisely detect microcalcifications and small lesions. Furthermore, we safely perform various biopsies and procedures, playing a key role in accurate diagnosis. In the field of Interventional Radiology, we actively perform oncologic interventions for liver cancer, including Transarterial Chemoembolization (TACE) to block tumor-feeding vessels, Transarterial Radioembolization (TARE/SIRT) to destroy cancer cells by injecting radioactive substances directly into blood vessels, and Cryoablation to destroy tumor tissues using extreme cold, which is applicable to various types of cancer. We also perform a wide range of other vascular and non-vascular procedures. Our department delivers rapid and precise imaging services based on state-of-the-art medical equipment and highly skilled medical staff. Our specialists in each field ensure accurate and systematic diagnoses through detailed readings and close multidisciplinary collaboration. All images are acquired with precise and stable quality and are promptly delivered to clinical departments, providing optimal treatment directions for patients. Recently, we have incorporated AI technology to enhance image resolution and shorten scan times, thereby improving patient convenience. We are also leveraging AI assistance in diagnostic reading to strive for even greater accuracy. In line with DIRAMS’ mission of "Medical Utilization and R&D of Radiation Medicine," the Department of Radiology & Radiologic Science is committed to providing top-quality medical care to patients while playing a leading role in the clinical application of radiation research.
