Emergency Medicine specializes in acute illness, injury, and mass casualty care. Its scope spans all clinical areas, with special expertise in CPR, shock, and toxicology. Unlike other departments that split outpatient and inpatient care, Emergency Medicine exclusively covers ED-based care. We diagnose and treat patients at the frontline 24/7, and coordinate prehospital collaboration within the emergency medical system. We apply triage by acuity and operate fast-track pathways for quality care, and train staff with simulation-based education for rapid response. The ED also sees general patients during nights and holidays outside regular clinic hours; however, treatment order follows medical urgency, so waits may be longer for non-emergent cases.
